Help
  • You will work with local and international civilian suppliers to locate and order material not available within the Navy stock system.
  • You will review and assess program effectiveness and recommend efforts to improve and develop new processes or provide solutions for a more efficient and economy of operations.
  • You will be responsible in coordinating resource procurement and resolving logistics and resources problems with representatives from other agencies, and private industry.
  • You will be preparing and presenting briefings of material to Chain of Command, representatives from other agencies, and private industries.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Planning, coordinating, or evaluating logistical actions in logistical management operations using supply related databases to support material requirements; AND
2) Utilizing Government Purchase card program regulations, policies and procedures to complete open market research; AND
3) Planning, and coordinating open purchases for the acquisition of supplies, equipment, and ship-board repair parts; AND
4) Using follow-up and receipt procedures in shipping and receiving materials; AND
5) Analyzing warehouse layouts and storage options to stow and retrieve materials.

Relocation and recruitment incentives up to 25% may be authorized. The current workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Employees hired from continental U.S. will receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of basic hourly rate, eight hours per week).

The Office of the Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) limits the number of Bahrain based DoD personnel accompanied tours. Dependent entry approval from Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command is required for all accompanied tours prior to extending the final job offer and prior to issuing Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. Accompanied tours are not guaranteed.

Emergency-Essential Position: This position is designated Emergency-Essential (E-E). In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the E-E duties until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent, or designated alternate, may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively. This meets the criteria of an E-E position and requires that the incumbent, or designated alternate, be removed from military recall status.

The incumbent may be performing the above duties at a variety of job sites within commuting area. It is incumbent's responsibility to transport himself/herself in an expeditious manner between job sites in the local area of his/her permanent duty station with reimbursement of costs
in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations.

The incumbent may be assigned to work areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include, but are not limited to: fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and chemicals.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related

Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.

Military Spouses and Family Members may apply 30 days before their anticipated arrival date. However, they will not receive preference until arrival at the foreign location. Additional documentation may be required prior to granting preference.
