Duties

Help
  • Provide technical guidance, advice, and work in support of the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, and custody of cash items to include handling cash items or use of cash accountability control methods.
  • Examine payroll records maintenance and completion of reports pertaining to civilian employees of the Federal Government.
  • Answer requests to employees, supervisors, and other staff personnel specialists on pay related rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Initiate collections not related to pay and leave, maintain retirement records, or process health benefit forms.
  • Perform technician work in support of budget analysis and administration such as maintain ledgers, budget formulation, compiling, consolidating, checking, and arranging funding data.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has occasional, Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel that maybe required.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with DHA Regulation.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations
  • This is a Financial Management Level 1 Certified position. The Incumbent must obtain Level 1 Financial Management Certification within 2 years of entrance on duty.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes supporting the handling of cash items, examining financial documents for accuracy, and completing reports pertaining to employees. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
