This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Designs, develops, maintains, implements, and evaluates clinical social work service programs for the installation Mental Health unit and Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
Serves as the installation clinical social work subject matter expert (SME) by providing consultation to installation leadership and medical professionals regarding clinical needs assessment, determining clinical intervention requirements.
Applies professional knowledge of the principles, theories, procedures, and practices of social work to conduct intake evaluations on a routine and emergency basis in accordance with applicable agency and DoD guidelines.
Conducts comprehensive psycho-diagnostic evaluations to address complex (interrelated biopsychosocial) diagnostic and treatment issues.
Provides evidence-based psychotherapy for a wide variety of complex psychiatric/social problems.
Provides psychological consultation, education, and training to other mental health professionals, medical staff, military commanders/senior leaders, and other DoD and civilian providers.

This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
Position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted clinical license as a Social Worker from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

Basic Requirements for Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting comprehensive psychosocial evaluations or providing individual or group therapy, or developing behavioral health treatment plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent social work clinical licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
