Duties

Help
  • Follows established procedures in receiving, checking, and sorting and classifying recyclable materials based on industry standards of characteristics such as weight, texture, color, and hardness.
  • Work is usually performed either in a warehouse or property recycle facility.
  • Performs the work of receiving, separating, and sorting a variety of recycle materials and sorts basic categories of common recyclable materials (i.e. paper, plastic, metal).
  • Operates paper and plastic bailer and low and high torque shredder.
  • Also operates a variety of forklifts capable of lifting loads weighing up to 10,000 pounds to move, load, unload, stack, or un-stack various recycle materials.

  • Must be able to operate and drive a forklift.
  • Incumbent must have the mental, physical, audio, and oral abilities to ensure the duties assigned will be carried out in a safe and satisfactory manner.

  2. This includes using and maintaining tools and equipment, being able to read, understand, and apply instructions and other requirements related to this job; and driving and operating forklifts and performing the physical requirements of the job.

  • This job is open to candidates in the Local/ Surrounding Commuting Area. NOTE: Local / Surrounding Commuting area is defines as within 50 miles of Fort Benning, Georgia.   • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
