Duties

Help
  • Serve as the working leader of a team of 3-6 employees, ensuring efficient task assignment and workflow.
  • Ensure the availability of necessary plans, blueprints, materials, tools, and supplies for the team to complete assigned tasks.
  • Provide guidance to workers on safety protocols and demonstrate proper work methods to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Fabricate and install wooden bracing, fixtures, and supports using tools such as saws, drills, hammers, chisels to secure sensitive, hazardous, or heavy equipment.
  • Repair and construct boxes, pallets, crates, and other shipping materials using nailing machines and salvaged lumber.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
  • This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
  • Performs duties which involve the control, accountability and shipment of arms, ammunition and explosives (AAE). Incumbent must maintain AAE Security Certification/Screening IAW AR 190-11.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Blocker and Bracer Leader ~ without more than normal supervision.
Must possess the ability to perform common duties being a working leader. I can give directions to a number of employees in accomplishing task such as blocking and bracing equipment on truck trailers using blocks, braces, or other staying devices. I have operated truck tractors with semi-trailers and Strad-O-Lift trailers to haul explosives, munitions, and components. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Average weight handled is approximately 45 pounds; however, occasionally will handle items weighing up to 65 pounds unassisted. Materials handling equipment, such as dollies, hand trucks, conveyors, high-lift trucks, etc., are available and used where ever practicable.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work site will usually be in railroad cars, trailer, or magazines, under conditions of poor ventilation and inadequate light and is frequently exposed to disagreeable heat, coldness, dampness, wind and rail. Frequently is exposed to noise and to possible cuts, abrasions, and splinters from power sawing, handling lumber, spiking, nailing, and other work. Is exposed to nose and lung irritation from dust and sawdust and possible injuries from falling objects, swinging crane loads, etc. May wear protective eyeglasses, a face shield, protective ear devices, gloves, hard hats, hard toe shoes, or other protective equipment. Will be subject to general explosion hazard for the majority of the time and may also be subject to TNT or Tetryl-Poison hazard, toxic fumes, and other conditions found in explosives handling.
