Duties

Help
  • Works under close supervision of the banquet supervisor or leader who provides specific instruction for task to be performed. Performance is observed while in progress to ensure compliance with instructions and established procedures.
  • Performs routine duties of servicing banquets. This position is basically waiter work. Involved in setting up and breaking down banquet settings and replenishing beverages. Understanding of food sanitation, beverage handling, and food preparation.
  • Stands, walks, and stoops and stretches, usually for long period of time, handling food and beverage trays and good containers, seldom weighing more than 40 pounds.
  • Work primarily indoors in areas that usually have adequate light and ventilation. Danger of slipping on wet or polished floors. May occasionally work outdoors during seasonal functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2. to include a medical examination and Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to work varying shifts to include days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to stand, walk, and stoop and stretch, for usually long periods of time. Handling food and beverage items possibly weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to work primarily indoors in areas that usually have adequate light and ventilation. Danger of slipping on wet or polished floors. May occasionally work outdoors during seasonal functions.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  • Must meet the state/local age requirement (18 years) for the serving of alcoholic beverages.
  • No prior training or work experience required.

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
