Duties

Help

As a FACULTY SENIOR ASSOCIATE at the AD-1701-3 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Deliver competency-based instruction and facilitate specialized educational content on topics including FMS processes, case development, program execution, acquisition, logistics, finance, training, technology security, foreign disclosure, and related functional areas aligned with DSCU certification standards and training objectives.
  • . Provide instructional delivery across multiple modalities, including virtual, in-resident, and computer-based environments. Remain current with university technologies that support teaching and learning.
  • Develops curricula and advising materials for virtual, in-resident, and computer-based modalities; review and improve materials created by other faculty; plan, coordinate, and engage with DSCU staff and faculty.
  • Design and develop comprehensive FMS job aides that provide U.S. government personnel with step-by-step instructions, checklists, templates, and reference materials on critical aspects of the FMS process.
  • Participates in academic or professional research to create knowledge or solutions related to security cooperation and FMS topics and the more specialized defense acquisition related topics.
  • Publishes findings in reputable scholarly or professional outlets, which can include, inter alia, peer-reviewed publications, University publications, relevant blogs, and specialized defense, military, and civil-military publications.
  • Participates in DSCU self-governance to support the academic mission of the University in its use of technologies and services impacting teaching, learning, research, and scholarship.
  • Collaborate with peers and leaders across the university and within the broader FMS and acquisition community to advance DSCU's mission and maintain instructional excellence.
  • Regularly review and update existing curricula and job aides to reflect changes in FMS policies, procedures, and best practices. Work closely with subject-matter experts and stakeholders from relevant U.S. government agencies to ensure the materials are current and fully aligned with SC objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the AD-03 if you fulfill the following qualifications. Your resume must support all of the following requirements to be considered for the position. Please ensure transcripts reflecting a conferred master's degree are also provided with your application:


1. Master's degree from a regionally or nationally accredited university in a relevant functional area required: international relations, economics, foreign affairs, history, political science, business administration, defense and strategy, or a related field that supports DSCU's programming, research, analysis, or messaging needs.
2. Five or more years of experience in regional or functional topics relevant to Security Cooperation (SC)/Institutional Capacity Building (ICB) that align with Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) -Policy Priorities. Experience shall be of sufficient depth or breadth as to establish expertise within a particular professional discipline relevant to the security sector such as defense acquisition and logistics, cyberspace defense, operations/functions of a ministry, regional politics or security, military operations, or implementation of the U.S. security assistance/cooperation system.
3. Experience in leadership, management, strategy, or planning tasks in government, military, private sector, or academia.
4. Documented intellectual contributions in area(s) of expertise.
5. Teaching experience and/or experience advising senior leaders.
6. Experience in developing and revising instructional or advising content or materials.
