Duties

Help

Oversees the administration, coordination and management of Bachelor Housing Facilities and maintenance encompassing 24 buildings that may house more than 7,000 personnel. Works closely with Public Works on facility and maintenance repair and projects, renovations, minor construction, facility planning, project planning, and repair and maintenance of equipment in support of activities.

Works with Complex Managers, Building Managers and customers to identify maintenance requirements. Serve as interface between BH and Public Works for submission of maintenance work requests, tracking of those request and following up on completed work orders.

Plans, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies.

Works closely with supply to order material from Self Help and ensures material required for minor maintenance is available as required. On occasion prepares purchase requests or other procurement documents for supplies or equipment.

Responsible for all maintenance division administrative matters, which include but shall not be limited to: briefings, standard operating procedures (SOP's), special reports, management narratives, post action reports, etc.

Performs the full range of supervisory duties for three or more site subordinates.

Directly Supervises Maintenance Clerk and 2-4 maintenance workers.

Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of maintenance program through inspections, interviews with supervisors, managers, staff members, customers, residents, and tenant commands.
Initiates corrective action to ensure required maintenance support is provided.

Ensures compliance with fire, safety, security, hazardous materials handling and other environmental issues.

Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs.

A qualified candidate must possess:

Four years experience in the same or closely related field. Must possess the ability to supervise and to instruct.
Must possess basic math and reading skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with management, staff, residents and customers.

Knowledge of the basic principles, techniques, and methodology pertaining to management planning, coordinating and efficient use of BH facilities.

General knowledge of maintenance, repair and improvement practices and the methods and procedures involved in determining acceptable work performance.

Prepares written performance evaluations for all maintenance staff members.

Ability to evaluate the adequacy of maintenance processes. Knowledge of custodial and facility policies and standards; use and care of cleaning solutions; and safety, energy conservation, environmental and fire prevention regulations and practices.

Basic understanding of computers and computer software programs and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel and learn the use of SPM and other software platforms used to manage facilities maintenance.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
