  • Incumbent serves as a Communications Security (COMSEC) Responsible Officer (CRO) for DLA. Adheres to all policy and guidance provided by the DLA COMSEC Manager, DoD and specifically the Air Force COMSEC.
  • Serves as the Secure Voice Responsible Officer (SVRO). Uses Secure Internet Protocol/Router Network (SIPRNET) in the accomplishment of COMSEC duties.
  • Performs security functions in protecting DLA secure communications systems.

Qualifications

To qualify for an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) your qualifications must include:

A. Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include:

  • Acting as a DLA COMSEC Responsible Officer, CRO, this position is responsible for all COMSEC aids and equipment located within the area of responsibility,
  • Requests and receives COMSEC materials from the agency COMSEC Manager and is responsible for the handling, proper usage, and proper destruction of these materials during their lifecycle.
  • Follows all DoD, Air Force, agency guidance in the management and maintenance of the local CRO account.
  • Properly documents all COMSEC actions (receipt, destruction, issuance…) in accordance with current policy. Develops and maintains local COMSEC Operating Instructions/Procedures following agency COMSEC policies
  • Develops and maintains Emergency Action Plans ensuring COMSEC materials are protected during natural disasters or other emergencies. Ensure all user training is conducted and properly documented. Ensures only authorized personnel have access to COMSEC materials.
  • Serves as the Secure Voice Responsible Officer (SVRO) keying and maintaining software updates for Sectera VIPER phones and Secure Mobile devices. Uses SIPRNET in the accomplishment of COMSEC duties; keying SIPRNET encryption equipment as needed

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Drug-Free Workplace Policy

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is committed to maintaining a safe, drug-free workplace. All DLA employees are required to refrain from illegal drug use on and off duty. DLA conducts pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random drug testing.

Applicants tentatively selected for employment in testing designated positions will undergo a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Refusal to undergo testing or testing positive for illegal drugs will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and a six-month denial of employment with DLA from the date of the drug test. Employees in drug testing designated positions are subject to random drug testing.

The DLA drug testing panel tests for the following substances: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, heroin, phencyclidine, amphetamines, methamphetamines, fentanyl, norfentanyl, methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA), and opioids.

ADVISORY: Use of cannabidiol (CBD) products may result in a positive drug test for marijuana. DLA employees are subject to Federal law and under Federal law, Marijuana is a Schedule I drug and is illegal.
