Duties

Help

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
  • Maintain and manage inventory levels, track supplies, and perform periodic inventory audits. Handle cash transactions, process payments, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Provide excellent customer service, respond to customer inquiries, and resolve issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Complete administrative paperwork, maintain records, and perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in the kitchen with food preparation, serving, and cleaning as needed.
  • Assist with event planning, including coordinating logistics, setting up and tearing down events, and providing support to event staff.
  • Perform cleaning and organizing tasks to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures, including securing facilities and equipment.
  • Provide support to other facilities staff as needed, including answering phones, responding to emails, and performing other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with maintaining facilities equipment, including reporting maintenance issues and performing routine maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance efforts to ensure high standards of service and facilities maintenance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and decision-maker in the absence of a supervisor, providing guidance and support to staff, responding to customer concerns, and taking corrective action as necessary to ensure the smooth operation of facilities.

The area of consideration for this vacancy announcement is citizens, permanent residents, and legal residents of the United States (US) who reside within the local commuting area (60 mile radius) of RAF Croughton, United Kingdom (UK), or will do so within the next 30 days. Permanent and legal residents of the US must be citizens of a NATO country, unless authorized to reside in the UK as a dependent of an employee who serves in support of the US Visiting Forces.

Eligible applicants must possess a US-issued social security number and be able to provide documentation proving residency status in the UK. Documentation could include PCS Orders, UK Visa, etc. Applicants cannot be 'ordinarily resident'. A person is considered to be 'ordinarily resident' if they have resided in the United Kingdom (UK) for more than 366 days without an affiliation to the US Visiting Forces. Time spent in the UK as an employee, or dependent of an employee, of a US agency serving and supporting the US Visiting Forces (i.e., active duty military, federal civilian, AAFES, Red Cross, one of the contract universities, a military banking facility or federal credit union, or US government contractors) is not counted toward being 'ordinary resident'.

In accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement between the US and the UK, British citizens may not apply for US NAF positions; however, they may be eligible to apply for local national positions on base. Dual US/UK citizens may apply for US NAF positions if they have a valid US passport.

Qualifying Experience (MUST BE SUPPORTED IN RESUME):
  • Experience in facilities operations, management, or administration, including duties such as inventory management, cash handling, customer service, and event planning.
  • Experience in a customer-facing environment, including experience in retail, food service, or hospitality.
  • Experience with administrative tasks, including record-keeping, data entry, and report writing.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 25 pounds, pull and push objects weighing 10 to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift up to and over 25 pounds.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.

Additional information

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit.
  • Probationary period may be required.
