Duties

Help

Sorts and counts all items to be laundered according to the proper classification, and recording quantities on the laundry inventory sheets. Maintain inventory sheets in sequence for reconciliation of quantities received, issued to housekeepers and of stocked items. Operates commercial type laundry washers and dryers according to instructions. Exercise judgment in removing worn, faded or overly soiled items and replacing the linen from stock. Services equipment by keeping it clean and safe by performing operator's preventive maintenance. Maintains inventories of detergents and cleaning solutions required for laundry. Maintains updated files on Material Safety Data Sheets on all chemicals and hazardous materials used. Submits requisitions for cleaning supplies. Provides World Class customer service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assist customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays or special situations.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical. Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 45 pounds and be able to continuously stand, stoop, bend, and walk.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
No previous experience required. Must be able to read and follow directions on labels affixed to chemicals, detergents and on Safety Data Sheets. Must have the ability to learn proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions and how to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of linen. Must be able to work independently and to determine what is needed at each part of each sequence to process a variety of laundry items. Skill and attention to accuracy and following set procedures. Skill to safely clean and remove stains from any type of fabric. Must have ability to learn proper procedures to safely perform work.

Education

This position does not allow for education substitution.
