Duties

Help
  • Facilitates the Medical Service Accounts and Medical Affirmative Claims program at a major medical treatment facility.
  • Serves as functional advisor to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Uniform Business Office and Medical Claims Attorneys.
  • Contacts agencies (such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Inspector General, Army Audit Agency, Internal Review, and Judge Advocate) to keep abreast of changing policies and procedures.
  • Tracks all financial transactions and reconciles interagency and federal payments/balances monthly with Resource Management Division.
  • Reviews preadmission, admission, and continued stay requests of all elective care for insurance company approval or disapproval.
  • Reviews and recommends the workload of the clinical staff for case management on all inpatient precertification and discharge planning cases.
  • Reviews, identifies, and analyzes actions that will prevent financial loss.
  • Analyzes medical records for insurance appeals to ensure compliance with medical protocols.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing internal control reviews for accounting systems; reconciling financial transactions for payment; and preparing financial management reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
