Duties

Help

  • Serves as the SAP Information Technology Compliance Manager; providing and developing information assurance policy and guidance to subordinate Information System Security Officers (ISSOs).
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities as a Systems Administrator for Air Force SAP.
  • Conduct SAP AIS Compliance Inspections for Air Force Global Strike Command units.
  • Manages SAP Information Assurance Awareness Program for the Air Force Global Strike Command.

  • Special Sensitive position; requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs.
  • A non-disclosure agreement must be signed and a favorable suitability determination is required before appointment.
  • Key position, essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
  • Drug testing position; must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • Subject to short notice TDY deployment to meet mission requirements. Must be able to complete all pre-deployment training required. This may include nuclear, chemical, and biological defense training and travel by military air.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime and may require occasional 12 hour shifts.
  • Must attend, successfully complete and maintain MIM qualifications and currencies per lead command, within 6 months of being hired.
  • Information Assurance Certification; must achieve the appropriate certification within six months. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted. Failure to receive the proper certification may result in removal from this position.
  • Only open to current Air Force civilian employees within the Air Force Global Strike Command A5/8.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series, GS-2210 (Alternate A). https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/2200/information-technology-it-management-series-2210-alternative-a/

EXPERIENCE: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes applying IT security principles, methods, practices, systems, and procedures sufficient to administer the Information Assurance and Special Access Programs; analyze computer assets and establish security requirements, enforce mandatory access control techniques, assess risk, recommend corrective actions; and provide information and assistance to customers on certification and accreditation.


FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
  • Knowledge of IT systems and analysis and application software concepts, functions, techniques and capabilities sufficient to evaluate new and emerging IT security methods and principles, the feasibility of proposed new systems and applications software projects; and to design, write, test, debug, and maintain information systems and applications software and ensure successful integration with existing and anticipated infrastructure in the database environment.
  • Knowledge of operational activities (such as special operations, personnel recovery, airlift, etc.), weapons systems, and command, control, and mission process, systems, and applications.
  • Knowledge of IT management information systems and applications software technology to isolate causes of problems between hardware, system, and applications software programs to measure system performance and/or extend operating system capabilities to support organizational business and operations.
  • Knowledge of IT management information systems requirements and application software development techniques required in carrying out project assignments of considerable difficulty and with little specificity regarding approach to be followed.
  • Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of an organization.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
