Duties

Help
  • You will provide staff advice, assistance and consultation on directives pertaining to numerous and varied management problems.
  • You will perform all Inspector General duties, to include those normally restricted to commissioned officers, unless prohibited by law.
  • You will be responsible for an internal “train and teach” program to enhance the proficiency of all members of the satellite Inspector General (IG) office.
  • You will receive and process requests for assistance; conduct IG Assistance Inquiries, Investigative Inquiries, Investigations, and Congressional Inquiries.
  • You will conduct, or assist with conducting, complex and potentially sensitive investigations or inquiries not limited to; fraud, waste, mismanagement, misconduct, reprisal and whistle blower, violations of law, regulations and policies.
  • You will review and assist with evaluating existing programs, policies, procedures, and practices in relations to command goals and command interest in order to determine problems and corrective action.
  • You will ensure investigations are conducted according to directives, laws, and that the integrity and validity of the investigations are legally correct.
  • You will prepare clear, concise, accurate, unbiased reports of investigation and draw conclusions, which are supported by technically, or legally substantiated evidence.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You must must be able to obtain and maintain a “Favorably Adjudicated” Access National Agency Check with Inquiries (ANACI)/T3 with Secret Security eligibility, including submitting a new ANACI/T3 Personnel Security Investigation (PSI) every 10 years.
  • You must complete Inspector General certification training within 12 months of employment.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license. PLEASE NOTE: You MUST submit this along with your application or you WILL be disqualified.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing program management, analytical, and administrative support (e.g. readiness inspections and assessments, advising on congressional and special correspondence, assisting in hotline and whistle blower complaints, etc.) and ensuring compliance with regulations, directives, and orders.
