This is position is located within U.S. Customs and Border Protection - Office of International Affairs - Asia Division.

This work center's intent is to develop access and influence for CBP with foreign government partner border security organizations in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific in support of CBP and U.S. government missions sets, notably trade and travel facilitation.

Through this process, CBP engages in capacity building activities with host nation counterparts and fosters international cooperation on critical national and economic security interests.

The focus of this assignment is to assist with the development of an agency level strategy to employ resources, authorities, and capabilities against malign and illicit activities originating from the People's Republic of China (PRC).

The assignee would perform a number of actions in support of developing the agency level strategic framework including:

  • Analysis and briefings on issues related to the PRC and CBP mission sets.
  • Interface with U.S. government partners on areas of interest and responsibility relating to the PRC.
  • Playing a key role in the development of the agency's strategic level guidance for countering illicit activities originating from the PRC.

  • Must NOT have any pending/outstanding disciplinary actions
  • Must have achieved a minimum of "meet expectations/proficiency" on latest performance appraisal/evaluation
  • Must be currently at the grade level of the detail. *No Temporary Promotion Opportunity*

Qualifications

Qualifications required:

  1. Experience that would support analysis and briefings on issues related to the PRC and CBP mission sets.
  2. Experience that would support interfacing with U.S. government partners on areas of interest and responsibility relating to the PRC.
  3. Experience that would support playing a key role in the development of the agency's strategic level guidance for countering illicit activities originating from the PRC.

If the position requires a security clearance, employees must have a SECRET or TOP SECRET clearance to placement AND must maintain that level of clearance while performing in the position.

Selected applicants for a JDA are requested to fulfill the items below during the JDA:

  1. Complete the DHS Training Course 15 days prior to the arrival to the JDA.
  2. Complete the DHS Joint Duty Assignment Progress Plan to include:
    • Phase 1: Establish assignment objectives within the first 30 days of the JDA.
    • Phase 2: Complete a self-assessment of the duties performed at the mid-point of the JDA.
    • Phase 3: Complete a final review within the last 30 days of the JDA.
