Duties

Help

As a Assistant Director - Policy, you will:

  • Assists the AD SPI in the overall policy management and development of OFAC programs, implementing economic and trade sanctions imposed by the United States
  • Directs and oversees interoffice teams in the formulation and implementation of policy papers and related memoranda with regard to the imposition of economic sanctions and trade embargoes
  • Responsible for the management and direction of all operations of the Policy Division in leading and coordinating the planning, development, and implementation of the policies for U.S. sanctions programs.
  • Plays a leading role in shaping OFAC's activities in the development of new Executive Orders and policy guidance documents to carry out new sanctions imposed by Congress or the President or to reflect changes in U.S. foreign policy with respect to existing sanctions programs.
  • Monitors legislative activity relating to OFAC programs to ensure compliance with U.S. policy.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required. Continued employment is contingent upon supervisory certification that continued employment will benefit the Federal Service; the certification will occur no less than 30 days before the end of the probationary/trial period.

  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized Experience for the 15 level: To be qualified for this position at the GS-15 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level. This experience is defined as:
- Managing the formulation, interpretation, and implementation of U.S. economic sanctions (as administered by Treasury/OFAC) policy papers, guidance, and related memoranda;
- Handling multiple projects for major office or program issues of broad impact; AND
- Performing work that involves analyses, comprehensive program reviews, and development of cross-agency activities.
