Summary

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia is unique in the size and the scope of its work. It serves as both the local and the federal prosecutor for the nation's capital. On the local side, AUSAs assigned to the Superior Court Division prosecute cases ranging from misdemeanors to homicides. On the federal side, AUSAs assigned to the Criminal Division prosecute federal crimes. The Civil Division further defends the United States in civil suits brought in the District of Columbia.

Duties

Help

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for performing complex investigative research and analysis in support of criminal, or administrative investigations in the Criminal Investigations Unit in the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia.

Typical work assignments will include:
- As the Lead Investigative Analyst, will provide guidance to five Investigative Analysts.
- Distributes and balances the workload of the investigations.
- Stays abreast of work priorities and progress and provides status updates to management.
- Provides training to new employees in accordance with established procedures.
- Plans and conducts investigative analysis of complex and multifaceted cases.
- Produces, monitors and disseminates Investigative reports.
- Performs a variety of ancillary investigations-related analytical services in direct support of litigation.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

  • If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.

Qualifications

To qualify as a GS-12 you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 Federal level.

Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to civil and criminal investigations. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: developing intelligence; performing quantitative, qualitative, or other analysis of relevant facts; reporting the results of investigations to attorneys, auditors, and management; resolving complex investigative problems affecting compliance with laws or regulations; developing investigative work plans; conducting interviews of witnesses, briefings with management before and after an interview, preparing written interview reports, conducting complex investigations and valuations of assets.
