Summary
The FBI's Information Technology Infrastructure Division (ITID) is seeking a highly qualified Data Center Engineer to design, build, operate, automate, and maintain all new Department of Justice, FBI data center consolidated networks. Physical installation of various enterprise servers, storage arrays, network switches/routers, etc.
Physical removal of enterprise various servers, storage arrays, network switches/routers, etc.
Install and remove network cabling between network equipment and end user equipment.
Perform a variety of multifaceted troubleshooting/analysis and advise managers and operational personnel on difficult and/or complex issues.
Serve as point of contact to resolve user complaints concerning data center operations tickets and analyzing/troubleshooting error conditions of varying complexity.
Gather requirements from customers, analyze work processes to determine system requirements, and perform maintenance in assigned areas.
Required to regularly crawl, crouch, kneel, climb ladders, lift, and individually lift up to 50lbs.
GS-13, in addition to the above:
Manage short and long-range IT projects to include equipment installation and removal, documentation, inventory management and communication with customers and management.
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for day-to-day operations.
Provide expertise necessary to solve complex problems that hinder the development or operation of the organization's enterprise IT services.
All federal employees who opted into the Deferred Resignation program (DRP) MUST resign prior to appointment in their new position.
Qualifications
GS-12: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Experience producing documentation, reports, diagrams, and technical specifications to facilitate planning, proposals, new/updated procedures, implementation, or upgrades of the data center backbone.
Experience installing, upgrading, hardware, software, and firmware.
Experience analyzing end user requests, troubleshooting, and determining correct resolution to system device malfunctions.
Experience providing testing support and offering recommendations regarding potential enhancements and/or incident resolution/remediation.
Experience completing repairs/upgrades to CEF hardware (i.e.. Replacing defective parts; memory, HDDs/SSDs and processors).
GS-13: In addition to the above, applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Experience serving as team leader on complex IT projects.
Experience providing advice and guidance to management regarding technical issues which pertain to the planning, designing, developing, procuring, implementing, operating and maintaining of the organization's IT infrastructure.
Experience providing technical support to all levels of personnel concerning the implementation and daily operations of data center IT equipment.
Education
Education may not be substituted for specialized experience at this level.
