Duties

Help
  • Assists the Fitness Facility Manager in the overall management and operation of a fitness facility; leads and or supervises the operation during second shift of program operations and in the absence of the Fitness Manager.
  • Assist in the publicizing sports facilities, programs and events by drafting articles for local newspapers and as instructed by supervisor coordinates with marketing for posters, flyers and other promotional material.
  • Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate.
  • Instructs customers and monitors proper usage of equipment, as needed.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED.
  • Must complete the following courses/classes: MWR Orientation Course; Customer Service; Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).
  • Ability to work an irregular schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and split-shifts.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Possesses directly related work experience that includes the demonstrated ability to carry-out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports. (The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level).

Highly Preferred Qualification:

  • Candidates who possess a combination of education (an undergraduate in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology) and work experience as identified above.
  • Possession of a nationally identified Basic Fitness Trainer Certification.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
