Help

As a Mission Support Specialist, GS-0301-11, you will perform the following major duties:

Performs administrative procedures, manages daily office operations, and provides support to the investigative and operational staff offices, including (but not limited to) the following functions, human resources (liaison), budget, travel, payroll (timekeeper), purchase card program, training, procurement and contracting, and accident report quality check.

Prepares memoranda, correspondence, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), guides, reports, and forms using administrative manuals and writing style guides to ensure documents do not contain grammatical, format, punctuation, and typographical inaccuracies.

Maintains budget used for travel, training, and miscellaneous office expenses. Makes recommendations to management based on financial status and actual spending.

Maintains proficiency and expertise in agency systems such as training, travel, time and attendance, and trains staff in their use.

Serves as primary timekeeper for the office including the verification of work hours in the automated timekeeping system. Monitors and tracks overtime hours including those hours incurred while employees are performing on scene accident investigation work. Provides timely response to employee inquiries concerning leave balances, and premium pay time worked. Troubleshoots and resolves various time attendance (T&A) and pay discrepancies.

Oversees the Electronic Travel System (ETS) to assist staff and managers with ETS inquiries as well as assist in entering/ approving travel authorizations, vouchers, and local travel vouchers, which may include travel to accident investigative sites. Ensures the availability of funds based on accounting documentation and reports.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following:

A. GS-11:
You MUST have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector).

Specialized experience is defined as: Manage and coordinate administrative programs (i.e., human resources, payroll, travel, budget, and procurement); Use electronic system to prepare travel and/or purchase orders; Use automated systems to create and review documents for format, grammar, punctuation, style, and completeness; experience serving as a primary timekeeper.

B. Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
