Summary

As a Forensics Investigative Specialist, you will:
Serve as a technical expert in the development of investigative methods.
Apply specialized forensic knowledge in developing processes to acquire, analyze and identify digital evidence in criminal, civil, or administrative investigations involving the use of computers, network technology, and digital information in the commitment of crimes.
Prepare reports, position papers, and other documents concerning the OI Digital Forensic Unit and their impact on digital forensics, ESI, and eDiscovery, which are clear, concise, factual, and timely. Reports include, but are not limited to, monthly and quarterly evaluations of the operational performance of the DFU, weekly highlights, input into the semiannual report to Congress, and policy documents.
Prepare, review, and revise new policies, programs, standards, and techniques.
Perform staff studies and other special assignments, as required, in a timely and acceptable manner.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience: For the GS-14, You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service and is directly related to the position as listed and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
Demonstrated experience utilizing applicable principles, procedures, and techniques to ensure digital evidence is collected, transported, and stored properly; AND
Demonstrated experience processing and analyzing digital evidence; AND
Demonstrated experience using automated databases to manage information.
Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
