This position is in the Intake Services Branch within the Family Court Social Services Division (CSSD) of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. CSSD oversees all youth involved in the District of Columbia's juvenile justice system who are not committed to the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services. The Youth Compliance Specialist (YCS) supports youth compliance with court-ordered conditions of release, particularly electronic monitoring.
Summary

United States Citizens or individuals lawfully admitted for permanent residency or authorized by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service to work in the United States.
Monitors electrical monitoring violations (e.g., curfew breaches, device tampering, low/no battery alerts, GPS signal loss, and failure to attend scheduled activities).
Conducts home visits, makes contact with youth and parent/guardian, and supports immediate interventions in collaboration with law enforcement or community partners to address public safety concerns and promote compliance with court-ordered conditions.
Coordinates and conducts the safe and timely transport of court-involved youth within and outside the District as needed to support court orders, service engagement, and placement.
Maintains appropriate documentation and collaborates with probation officers, partner agencies, and service providers to ensure continuity of supervision and care during transport.
Determines the appropriate level of response to violations, incorporating behavior change strategies and graduated responses, and maintains comprehensive documentation of violations, actions taken, and outcomes to support supervision efforts and court reporting.
Provides operations support and technical guidance to Intake Officers during high-volume or emergent situations and ensures seamless coverage for CSSD Intake Services at the Youth Services Center.
Leads the review, triage, and prioritization of new cases as they are received, supporting immediate risk screening, accurate data entry, and timely placement coordination for detained and released youth.
Background and security investigation are required.
A probationary period of one (1) year must be successfully completed.

You must successfully pass a Child Protection Registry check.

Law enforcement officer retirement provisions observed. Appointee to this position must not have passed their 37th birthday in the month of appointment to qualify for mandatory law enforcement separation/retirement at age fifty-seven (57).
CPR and fingerprint checks are subject to reinvestigation every two (2) years.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or institution in criminal justice, social work, psychology, public administration, or a related field, plus (4) years of experience working in an environment that serves the public.
Two (2) years of experience in probation, juvenile justice, law enforcement, or related youth services is preferred.
Experience with GPS or electronic monitoring systems and completion of training in evidence-based probation practices are desired.

Appointees to this position are covered under law enforcement officer retirement provisions and must not have reached their 37th birthday at the time of appointment. Applicants 37 years or over who have previous law enforcement officer experience under the Civil Service Retirement System or the Federal Employees' Retirement System and who have either a subsequent break in service or intervening service in a non-law enforcement officer position may have their previous law enforcement officer experience subtracted from their age to determine whether they meet the maximum age requirement.
