About the position: This position will be assigned to the Youth Center (ages 5-12 years old) at Travis Air Force Base, CA.

This position is considered Intermittent. Intermittent employees are guaranteed 0 hours per week but may work up to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the facility.

Eligible to use base facilities such as: Base Exchange (BX), Gym, Outdoor Rec, Library, Marina, Golf Course, Bowling Center, and the Arts & Crafts Center.

Duties

Help

  • Performs a wide range of accounting duties. Processes a wide range of accounting documents. Performs numerous cashier duties on a daily basis. Collects cash receipts, checks, credit card receipts, and other supporting documentation. Maintains records of accounts receivable and payables for both Non Appropriated and Appropriated funds.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, traces discrepancies, reconciles accounts. Prepares financial reporting data as required. Prepare and turn in all required daily and end of month paperwork, ensuring deadlines are met. Proofreads work in progress to ensure final product meets requirements of originator.
  • Maintains and checks records of children for eligibility in the food program. Liaison with various food vendors and DFAS.
  • Assists with registration for School Age Program. Accepts registration, enrolls children, and maintains waiting list for Youth Center Programs. Registers and maintains files for children.
  • Maintains inspection logs for vehicles. Receives and directs callers and visitors. Monitors reception area and greets visitors. Monitors closed-circuit surveillance camera for safety and security of children. Ensures all visitors use proper sign in/sign out procedures and acts as escort if necessary.
  • Provides information on all activities within the Youth Center to include: School Age Program, Open Recreation Program, Teen Program, Sports Program, trips, lock-ins, etc.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Uses office automation software to perform numerous functions such as word processing, electronic mail and/or updating of data in electronic files.
  • Assists in all program during periods of staff shortages and staff breaks.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handlers certification, within specified time from date hire or assignment to position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Knowledge of common clerical practices and office routines. Ability to answer questions, requests, or concerns with detailed, case specific explanations. Knowledge of filing systems and procedures and the subject matter content of the material processed. Knowledge of format and clerical procedures to arrange a variety of material from different sources. Typing skills are required with a minimum of 40 wpm. Knowledge of basic word processing functions. Must have some experience in accounting. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and satisfactorily complete installation, state and national criminal background checks. Must satisfactorily complete mandatory training as specified below. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Must meet specific physical requirements, pass a physical examination and have required immunizations. Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs or more. May be required to work night and weekends.

Education
