This position is for use in an ARNG AVCRAD Avionics Section. The AVCRAD is an industrial facility that provides sustainment base maintenance in support of regional Army National Guard (ARNG) Aviation assets and supports field maintenance in accordance with ARNG Aviation priorities. The AVCRAD maintenance activities ensure aircraft of the region are ready and available to support Federal and State missions. In addition, the AVCRAD performs National Maintenance Program (NMP) repair of rotary wing aircraft and components, limited depot airframe repair, aircraft painting, major airframe repair, depot-level component repair, and component repair and management, as directed by Army Materiel Command (AMC), and prioritized by the National Guard Bureau (NGB).

The purpose of this position is to serve as the Work Leader over a small organization in the electronics function with responsibility for the overall shop operation. Oversees and directs the work of three or more Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanics, WG-2610-12 who are assigned to the shop.

The work performed in this series includes duties such as, train, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of complete multiple integrated electronic avionics systems where the results and support accomplish a number of major functions.

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is a Title 32 Technician Vacancy that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

Qualifications

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC):

Area of Consideration:
This position is open to Area 1 Only.

Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2)
Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard
Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard


*Note- Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and are not eligible for Area 1.


GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to lead other NG employees engaged in installing, modifying, overhauling, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, aligning, calibrating, and rebuilding multi-system avionics complexes. Lead inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment. Ability to train, mentor, and solve problems. Able to conduct training presentations and briefings. Ability to assign work and monitor progress.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the craftsman level knowledge, experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of and skill in this series sufficient to organize and direct the work of others. Experience which demonstrates an applicant's ability to provide guidance to others in analyzing the malfunctions encountered, devise repair procedures and perform the repairs or, if extensive repairs are needed, provide instructions to employees. Experience which demonstrates an applicant's ability to instruct others in studying technical data and equipment specifications to determine the impact that equipment modifications or substitutions will have upon total system operation and on the various maintenance and alignment procedures.

1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.

2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

4. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
