Duties

Help
  • Serves as the technical authority in the assigned packaging areas
  • Provides technical packaging assistance, advice, and policy guidance to CMO personnel on a broad range of packaging regulations, policies, procedures, methods, and techniques.
  • Facilitates resolution of packaging problems and foster understanding of DCMA packaging assistance
  • Utilize IT applications to identify deficiencies, communicate them, and assist with resolution
  • Serves as a packaging functional expert on boards, working groups and IPTs convened by Defense Contract Management Agency, Department of Defense, and other Government agencies.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Packaging Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Providing knowledge and consulting services to technical specialists requiring analysis of packaging, packing, marking, materials handling, transportability requirements, including hazardous materials, munitions, and explosives.
  • Supporting technical specialists in formulating recommendations for solutions with regard to packaging problem areas.
  • Applying technical and comprehensive knowledge of overall packaging process to determine supplier's packaging capabilities and related performance.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

Additional information

Acquisition, Technology & Logistics (AT&L) NON-CAP: Position requires DoD Acquisition Life Cycle Logistics, Foundational certification within required timeframes. Selectee must also achieve 80 hours of Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every 2-years. Click here for more details and Resources.
