Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Management and Program Analyst, you will perform the following duties:

  • Creating and administering goals and objectives; developing and prescribing procedures and techniques; and providing policy guidance to employees related to program budget and/or finance activities.
  • Establishing unit objectives, goals, priorities and deadlines, creating plans to meet workload changes.
  • Making decisions and resolving problems involving interpretation of the law, and application of DHS policy.
  • Ensuring department personnel policies are observed; resolving complaints and grievances and making recommendations.
  • Actively participating in conferences, meetings, hearings and/or presentations.

Specialized Experience:
GS-15: Applicant must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-14 level in the Federal service that included experience such as:

  • Serving as an expert in applying analytical and evaluative methods to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of policies, and developing and implementing immediate and long-range planning in response to policy and legislative requirements, as it relates to program budget and/or finance activities.
  • Setting annual and long-range work plans and schedules for accomplishing work aligned to strategic objectives.
  • Serving as a project leader responsible for conducting broad nationwide studies/evaluations.
  • Recommending solutions to sensitive, controversial, and critical issues affecting national programs.

Promotion Potential: This position is at the full performance level.

Supervisory Probationary Period: This is a supervisory position. Under provisions of the Civil Service Reform Act, first time supervisors and/or managers will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.
