Duties

Help

Uses point of sales computer program to record fund transactions. Performs over-the-counter selling of a variety of merchandise which may include but is not limited to the following: golf equipment, jewelry, footwear, clothing, sporting goods, novelty gifts, and other miscellaneous items. Explains use of various products, answers questions concerning various aspects of products, and assists patrons in locating specified items. Records sales, makes change, and wraps or bags merchandise. Maintains and controls change fund and daily receipts. Receives, verifies and signs for change fund at start of shift. Receives and secures cash, checks, credit cards and gift certificates for purchases and services. Refers telecon communication to appropriate section or individual upon receipt. Relays patron information, changes and conditions to relief sales clerk prior to the conclusion of duty shift. Makes public address announcements regarding golf course conditions and tee assignments. Replenishes stock as required and assists with inventories. Performs housekeeping duties in sales and storage areas. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Responsible experience in clerical, office, or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has performed satisfactorily at the grade level of the position.
Experience using a cash register, performing common arithmetic problems and making change when receiving payment from customers.
Practical knowledge of golf activities, rules and procedures and experience with equipment and facilities are desirable, however, no experience is required.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
