Duties

As a NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER - TITLE 32, WG-3705-10, you will determine test method and prepare fluids and parts for nondestructive inspection. Interpret nondestructive inspection test results and provide information about defects to repair center. Perform Oil Spectrometry process and analyze wear metal content on engine lubricating oil and other fluids. Establish radiation areas for radiographic operations. Monitor personal exposure areas for radiographic operations and personnel exposure data. Perform nondestructive inspection on structures, components, and systems. Detect flaws such as cracks, delaminations, voids, processing defects, and heat damage using penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle, radiographic, optical, Thermography, Shearography and ultrasonic test equipment. Apply magnetic particle and/or liquid penetrant inspection to detect and interpret the relevancy of flaws. Ensure the equipment and solutions are in compliance with technical guides and quality standards before performing tests. Perform processing tasks such as dipping items in penetrant or magnetic particle baths, washing and drying, and magnetizing/demagnetizing ferrous items. Use and maintain tools. Maintain bench stock levels of parts, materials, tools, and equipment at prescribed levels. Utilize safety practices and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment. Use and assure proper fit of the required Personal Protective Equipment and clothing. Maintain records and document actions. Perform other duties as assigned.

RANK REQUIREMENT:
Member must provide in writing with their application package that they are willing to accept a reduction in rank in order to be qualified for this position, if applicable. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
You must be assigned to a compatible military position.
Wear of the military uniform.

Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation.

This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:
Experience which demonstrates the ability to set up and operate test equipment, use test apparatus to apply tests to material or products, record readings, observe and record established reactions, and classify according to defined categories.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 18 months experience using ultrasonic and/or eddy current inspection techniques to observe, measure, and detect discontinuities and flaws. Experience classifying test results, identifying material deficiencies, and recommending courses of action for equipment. Experience recommending components to be inspected. Experience performing scheduled inspections of testing equipment ensuring compliance with established technical regulations and procedures.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
