Duties

Help

Assists the Force Support Squadron computer specialist in all matters relating to data automation data systems and communication hardware/software applications used within the Force Support Squadron. Performs a wide range of duties supporting the configuration management, hardware and software maintenance, functional user support, etc. to include but not limited to plans, coordinates, and installs applications software and hardware for Data Automation Systems. Provides Customer Support, Network Services, Operating Systems, Policy and Planning, Security, Systems Administration and Systems Analysis. Installs, tests, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs operating systems and software configuration of FSS network infrastructure devices to include but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems. Ensures that network connections are on line and active utilizing network management tools and processes and plays a key role in maintaining the network management platforms. Analyzes system problems and develop and/or recommend corrective action. Provides customer technical assistance support for FSS.NET LAN. Provides on-going technical support to customers to ensure proper functional use of equipment and programs to preclude undue interruptions to IT services. Interfaces with customers to ensure efficient operations. Provides technical expertise and assistance with their desktop applications and software. Assistance may require hands-on corrective action or putting a trouble ticket in the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) Automated System. Acts as liaison between the FSS Customer and the ESD as needed. Assists in compiling information for risk analysis accreditation and certification packages in accordance with agency requirements and timeframes. Additional duties could include Information Assurance Officer (IAO), Cyberspace Infrastructure Planning System (CIPS), Client Support Technician (CST), Information Technology Equipment Custodian (ITEC), and maintain Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards or alternate for these duties. Position of Trust. The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours in an on-call status, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Possess and maintain DoD approved Information Assurance baseline certification or understand that completion of training and certification must be completed within 6 months of appointment. Knowledge of and experience using the fundamental capabilities and functions of IT network architecture, topology and protocols used in installing and administering network services. Have experience configuring, installing and maintaining network switches, routers, firewalls and servers. Have the ability to communicate clearly when providing technical support to users and must possess the skills necessary to communicate IT-related processes clearly and effectively using both oral and written techniques. Be physically able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate a vehicle safely.

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
