Duties

Help

Monitors and oversees the day to day "ground" activities of the Outdoor Recreation operations. Oversees storage, maintenance, and repair of all ODR non-appropriated and appropriated fund equipment and vehicles. Schedules required maintenance by priority and provided budget, bases on need and customer demand. Identities unserviceable items to the ODR Director and prepares paperwork for proper disposition. Recommends replacement items and new equipment to the manager that may enhance the operations. Performs quality assurance inspections on equipment items to ensure maintenance work was performed properly. Maintains equipment inventories, providing budget input for new items and required major maintenance. Develops checklists for equipment preventative maintenance, customer inspections, required safety briefings and equipment returns. Trains ODR maintenance staff on proper service techniques, emphasizing safety practices, and properly documents the training. Oversees the day-to-day operations of of the Fam-Camps and RV storage lot areas. Ensures areas are clean and maintained in an organized manner. Identifies operational, security, and safety deficiencies, and takes actions to rectify those deficiencies. Will work with the ODR programming, providing logistical and staffing support for activity programs. Is the POC for hazardous materials, and ensures compliance, and proper documentation, of all regulatory requirements. Ensures compliance with EEO, OSHA, and any other pertinent regulations, directives or instructions. Interviews and selects maintenance staff, prepares work schedules, assigns duties, enforces standards, provides training, evaluates performance, initiates personnel actions, submits employees for recognition, resolves grievances, keeps staff informed, and maintains employee records. Will provide "hands on" maintenance support, dependent on manning and demand. May represent ODR and/or the FSS squadron on various committees or activities. May be required to act on behalf of the ODR Director in their absence. Will perform other duties as assigned. Works under the supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Director. Position is a position of trust.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:

Applicants must have responsible work experience or extensive training in general equipment and vehicle/RV maintenance and repair, which demonstrates ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience in customer service, providing instructions and training for equipment rental or use is desirable. Must be able to speak, read and write English. Experience organizing and scheduling tasks according to demand priorities and funding is desirable. Experience which provides knowledge of asset control, including cash handling procedures and sales operations such as receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit and use of cash accountability control methods is highly desired. Experience which demonstrates ability to provide work direction to other employees and knowledge of fire, safety, and health regulations is highly desired. Must have basic computer skills and be able to use computer software to monitor sales, inventory, accounting and timekeeping programs. Successful completion of a Tier 1 investigation is required.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
