Duties

Help

You will serve as the assistant to the CG FASSO Team Lead and provide Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security support for all SCI billets for the fleet of National Security Cutters NSC/WMSL, Offshore Patrol Cutters OPC/WMSM and other shipboard and ashore Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) in PACAREA.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Analyzes and resolves personnel security problems with investigations, such as conflicting or insufficient data, evidence, or testimony.
  • Develops and performs Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) indoctrinations and education briefings for qualified individuals of activities served, their Reserve Units, and associated contractors.
  • Investigates and performs fact analysis of reports of infractions in document processing, thefts of government property, falsification of official records, etc. and makes recommendations to eliminate existing problems and the potential for similar problems occurring.
  • Manages, and provides SCI support and oversight to CG SCI contractors, including but not limited to the processing, review, and approval of DD Form 254 (Contract Security Classification Specification).
  • Responsible for managing the security aspects of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) lifecycle, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations throughout design, construction, operation, and decommissioning.

Key Requirements:

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-12: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lowest grade level (GS-11 level) in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Specialized experience must include the following:

  • Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to analyze and resolve difficult and complex security problems.
  • Skill in developing guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various degrees or levels of security controls.
  • Ability to respond to problems or questions involving implementation of security guidelines at lower levels and to inspect operating security programs for adequacy, efficiency, and need for improvement.
  • Ability to provide authoritative interpretations and guidance to manage officials and other security specialists at the same and lower levels, and to resolve issues involving conflicting security requirements.
