Measures, cuts, constructs, installs, repairs and modifies wood, composite and wood substitute items where specific fit and accuracy are within allowable limits lo produce a serviceable product. Applies standard measurements. specification and instructions when constructing. installing, or repairing items such as frame structures, partitions, shelving and forms. Performs limited repairs on furniture such as re-gluing loose joints, replacing shelving and slide mechanisms. Operates a variety of hand and power tools such as hammers, hand saws, drills, planes, routers, screwdrivers, power nailers and fasteners, glue guns, metal shears, screw guns, power saws, and power sanders and plains. Works from sketches. work orders, and instructions .Performs minor maintenance and/or repairs to plumbing fixtures such as complete faucets, drain traps, unplugs stopped drains in tubs, sinks and showers. Measures, cuts, bends, and threads pipe and tile, caulks, and seals elbow, union joints, tile pipe, faucets and unions. UsesĀ· tapes, rules, hacksaw, hand and powered pipe threaders and cutters. packing and caulking irons and pipe wrenches. Paints/ stains wood and metal surfaces by brushing, rolling or spraying using prepared materials and by the application of coating techniques which ensures surfaces are fully coated, protected and free from runs and drips. Prepares surfaces by sanding, wire brushing, scraping, spackelling, and puttying. Uses scrapers, sanders. wire brushes. putty knives, paint brushes. rollers/ spray guns. Performs minor electrical maintenance for coffee makers, toasters, irons, ice machines, and vacuum cleaners. Replaces light fixtures, receptacles, switches and light bulbs. May repair door locks. Repairs are limited to removing/replacing door locks, key-card locks, and door knobs. Performs minor maintenance such as adjusting and replacing belts on vacuum cleaners and carpet shampooers. Performs maintenance on power tools and sharpening cutting tools. Operates a government vehicle; transportation of material to and from work sites. May require moving and/or lifting furniture, loading and unloading supplies and equipment required for repairs. Operates carpet/upholstery cleaning equipment on a scheduled basis. Cleans carpet and upholstery by applying cleaning agents for various types of fabrics/furnishings. Conducts snow clearing processes by using snow blowers, plows, shovels, and deice spreaders. Operates a government vehicle to transport supplies and perform maintenance on lodging facilities and equipment.

Qualifying Experience:
Applicants must have increasingly responsible experience/knowledge of carpentry, painting, plumbing, and a general knowledge of electrical and general maintenance. Must have a working knowledge of various hand and power tools. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to work an irregular tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be physically able to lift and cany objects weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally heavier objects with assistance. Position is a position of trust.
