Duties

Help
  • You will serve as the technical and administrative supervisor over Maintenance Branch Pohakuloa, and Schofield Barracks, exercising full supervisory responsibility over work operations.
  • You will provide technical service support to using units on target and makes recommendations on projects for future range expansion and target upgrades.
  • You will determine how many assignments can be done concurrently, which ones must be delayed, and the number and types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, materials, and equipment available and required.
  • You will explain work requirements, methods, and procedures; instructs subordinates in new procedures; and provides advice when problems arise.
  • You will develop performance standards, counsels employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals.
  • You will identify employees, training needs, and initiates recommendations to provide necessary training.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to act in the capacity of a first responder to natural disasters.
  • This will include active participation in training and exercises designed to determine the readiness of responding forces or the effectiveness of protective measures and programs.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Perform in and out of doors in all types of weather conditions to include but not limited to: frequent requirements for standing on concrete floors and working on remote ranges and rough terrain to include Ala, and Pahoehoe lava at PTA.
  • There is also frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, abrasions, burns, and electrical shocks. While operating a motor vehicle, there is danger of accidents and severe injury.
  • Work will be in small arms impact areas or potential UXO areas.
  • Frequent exposure to foul weather conditions includes but not limited to: explosives or incendiary material in an environment where there is frequent, close proximity to unexploded ordnance.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid US state and local government driver's license to operate 4x4 SUV and/or pickup truck.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Incumbent will be required to regularly lift and carry target mechanisms weighing up to 95 pounds. The work also requires frequent bending, stooping, and working in cramped or awkward positions.
  • This position requires a Physical Examination. Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet physical efforts requirement.
  • Temporary Duty travel (TDY) may be required up to 25%.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision. Assign routine tasks, monitor work progress, report problems to higher-level supervisors, and ensure tools and materials are available for the team. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT:The work requires frequent bending, stooping, and working in cramped or awkward positions. The incumbent is required to regularly lift and carry target mechanisms weighing up to 95 pounds. A physical examination is required to ensure the incumbent can meet the physical demands of the position.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is primarily performed indoors but could entail work out of doors in all types of weather conditions, including standing on concrete floors and working on remote and rugged terrain. The incumbent is exposed to risks of accidents and severe injury, including falls, loud noises, exposure to explosives, and potentially unexploded ordnance (UXO). Work may also occur in small arms impact areas with frequent exposures to adverse weather conditions and hazardous environments.
