Duties

Help

You will serve as a Fuel Distribution Worker. This position is located in DHS/U.S. Coast Guard, Seventh Coast Guard District, Air Station Clearwater, Engineering Department, in Clearwater, FL.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • .Performing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly fuel farm/truck inspections, maintenance and service equipment.
  • Receiving fuel from vendors and performs testing of the fuel.
  • Connecting and disconnecting hoses and open and close valves, checking periodically for leaks and checking the condition of storage tanks.
  • Operating equipment to transfer fuels from storage tanks to aircraft tank trucks or similar vehicles.
  • Reading meters and recording amounts of fuel transferred from storage tanks to vehicles.

  1. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  2. U.S. Citizenship is required.
  3. A one-year probationary period may be required.
  4. Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
  5. This position requires a Public Trust clearance.
  6. This is a Bargaining Unit position.
  7. Selectee must provide a valid state driver's license and safe driving record.
  8. Selectee subject to successful completion of pre-employment physical.

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience.

Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:

  • Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (Screen-out Element)
  • Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc.,
  • Operation of cryogenic storage and dispensing equipment forklift, etc.
  • Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  • Use of measuring instruments
  • Ability to interpret instructions, specification, etc. (other than blueprinting reading)
  • Dexterity and safety
