Duties

1. Serves as an Engineering Technician and Advanced Manufacturing in support of the Travis AFB Centralized Air Force Manufacturing Center (CAFMC).

2. Review and approve organic (Air Force Developed) production level, repair and/or first article TDPs.

3. Performs a wide array of manufacturing engineering technician duties in support of aircraft part repair and origination.

4. Performs project planning, design, and troubleshooting work for establishing new facility and laboratory plans and for modifying existing floor plan layouts as needed.

5. Coordinates projects with other engineering disciplines and participates in discussions, meetings or serves on panels or committees.

Qualifications

IIn order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions, Engineering Technical Series 0802

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-10, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes expertise in a variety of computer numerical control (CNC) and additive manufacturing machines such as Polymer 3D printers; Wire Electric Discharge Machining (EDM), lathes; vertical and horizontal boring mills; bench, plain, and universal milling machines. Proficiency in working with and within multi-disciplined teams which include various professional engineering and manufacturing disciplines. Capable of communicating verbally or in writing in technical terms with mechanical and aircraft system engineers. Capability of translating/converting the technical requirements into understandable written language from which manager and laymen can obtain requited understanding. Experience in use and application of technical or engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to the broad range of engineering related duties concerned with the design and project management of aircraft part technical data packages.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-10 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

l. Extensive working knowledge and ability in communicating both verbally and in writing in technical terms with architects and mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical engineers.

2. Project management knowledge and experience, from concept to completion for a broad range of facility and industrial projects.

3. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining material and personnel resources required to accomplish the mission.

4.Working knowledge in accessing and applying health, fire, safety, construction, engineering, and environmental requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, regulations, and/or technical orders.

5. Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and procedures and skill in evaluating site, facility, test systems, and proper process to record comprehensive plans, estimates, and options ensuring continued facility integrity.

6. Skill in reading and understanding engineering drawings, use of symbols, terminology, and accepted standards; and the equipment facilities, and systems of civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineering disciplines using software tools.


PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
