Duties

Help

Prepares sports and recreation facilities to specific guidelines in support of the intramural and varsity sports program. Inspects playing area and surface for any potential safety hazards and takes immediate measures to correct. Plans the year round turf maintenance program for outside facilities. Serves as section VCO, overseeing the routine and preventative maintenance program for all vehicles and equipment assigned to outside maintenance. Coordinates with Transportation Squadron to ensure that all scheduled maintenance on appropriated fund equipment is performed on time. Manages and oversees the routine maintenance and up keep of all the outside maintenance equipment including but not limited to riding mowers, push mowers, tractors, weed eaters, edger, leaf blowers and specialty turf maintenance equipment. Checks warranties prior to requesting or performing repairs. Assists the fitness maintenance staff with repair and maintenance of fitness equipment and indoor sports facilities. Sets up and takes down equipment for sport programs and/or special events. Operates government motor vehicles to pick up and deliver supplies, material and equipment to fitness and sports work stations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent to have resided in the United States for 3 years and reside in the commuting area of the vacancy location.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing. Must have a valid drivers license.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 75 lbs.

Qualifying Experience:
One year specialized experience of the operation and maintenance of indoor/outdoor fitness and recreation equipment. Must have experience which provides a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities and programs; and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities, equipment, rules and procedures which involves recreational work in the area. Requires familiarity with operation of minor turf maintenance equipment (lawn tractors, mowers, equipment carts, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):You qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Must be able to lift 75 pounds
2. Must be able to communicate in English
3. Must be able to follow instructions
4. Must be able to operate motor vehicles
5. Must be able to work individually
