The AFLCMC Logistics Directorate mission is to advance AFLCMC's ability to acquire, develop, support and sustain Products and Services by generating logistics solutions and supporting personnel. This position serves as an Equipment Specialist for an assigned AFLCMC Directorate organization.

  • Provides MAJCOM functional managers resolutions to complex system problems. Advises technicians on methods of resolving troubleshooting problems, repairing difficult system malfunctions, research and analysis, and resolving equipment problems with long term Air Force wide implications.
  • Recommends tests, equipment modifications, training for users and maintainers, and correction to design deficiencies through evaluation of operational capability of systems/equipment and review of performance data against standards.
  • Assists in troubleshooting and repairing difficult and unusual problems including those which have not been previously resolved. Designs special test equipment, develops special maintenance procedures, develops and conducts technical training for unit maintainers and operators.
  • Acts as Technical Content Manager for assigned technical data. Assists in troubleshooting and repairing difficult and unusual problems.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

Education

Undergraduate Education: Major study -- any field of study in an accredited college or university.

Graduate Education: Major study -- fields related to the position to be filled.

OR

Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:

  • Working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment.
  • Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements.
  • Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders.
  • Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met.
  • Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices of specific systems/equipment that are assigned. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. Skill in providing technical advice in terms of oral and written briefings, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership and maintenance technicians; and developing interpersonal relationships, maintaining good working relationships, and working cooperatively as a member of a team. Skill in analyzing and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and technical data; and, identifying and analyzing complex technical problems and developing innovative solutions. Ability to plan, organize, and re-prioritize work to meet changing deadlines. Ability to develop and conduct training to ensure proper maintenance of assigned systems/equipment; and communicate well both orally and in writing.

NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
