Duties

Help

  • Receives, examines, verifies and identifies categories (explosive, radioactive, classified) of munitions materials and equipment, assemblies, and components.
  • Observes, tests, and classifies munitions and explosive components in movement, storage and use.
  • Receives, examines, and determines condition of a variety of munitions and component materials to be turned in/removed including munitions residue, by-products and munitions containers.
  • Monitors Inspection, Storage and Maintenance special programs, Combat Ammunition System-Base (CAS-B) computerized listings, and documentation/records of munitions and components.
  • Conducts searches for information pertaining to munitions transactions and patterns.
  • Responds to requests from offices/individuals desiring additional identification data, verification, and/or comparison of one-of-a-kind item or when deviations from normal munitions supply Procurement and acquisition programs are required.
  • Prepares recurring and special reports. Compiles statistics from munitions accountability data. Enters data in multiple databases including CAS-B.
  • Performs administrative office support duties and maintains cooperative working relationships with team members, related functions, and operating officials.
  • Coordinates with unit account custodians and customers to maintain effective scheduling and use of available resources; consolidates requirements and customer requests for munitions support and tracks work order progress.
  • Ensures locks securing munitions storage and maintenance structures have primary, spare, and control keys and are segregated In Accordance With (IAW) Air Force Instruction (AFI) 21-201 and AFI 31 series Resource Protection Program.

  • Five years experience working with conventional munitions /explosives and 4 years experience as a munitions operations/ AFK is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Explosive Safety Standards, Resource Protection for munitions is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5-skill level or higher in Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) 2W0X1 or equivalent Civil Service training level and experience in the munitions area is highly desirable.
  • This position is covered by the provisions of the Federal Firearms Statute.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, Supply Clerical and Technician Series 2005.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of governing munitions accountability operations, regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions and an intensive knowledge of local munitions operations requirements to ensure munitions support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations. Ability to provide munitions accountability and operations support pertaining to specialized munitions, explosives and components, and equipment requiring protection in shipment and storage, and/or items seldom handled. Ability to conduct searches for munitions/explosives information and to reconstruct records for complex transactions utilizing the Combat Ammunition System-Base (CAS-B). Knowledge of a wide range of established munitions operations principles, practices, and methods involving property accounting, base and higher headquarters munitions supply policies and procedures, inspection, munitions maintenance/safety procedures, and methods of preparing and maintaining munitions property records and documents by manual accounting procedures. Knowledge of automated munitions supply systems CAS-B procedures, computer terminal operations, munitions requisitioning, reporting, inventorying, supply point operations, issue procedures, and experience working with munitions systems Air Force Specialty Code ((AFSC) 2W0X1).

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions.
  2. Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply and/or munitions transactions in an automated supply system.
  3. Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material (supply/safety regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc.)
  4. Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve supply problems and/or deviate from normal supplies management procedures or program requirements.
  5. Ability to receive, screen, review, and verify supply documents and resolve discrepancies.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents (letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs). Knowledge of automated and/or physical filing systems and procedures and the subject matter content of the materials being processed. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. Knowledge of CAS-B computer system and program requirements. Skill in the use of automated material processing equipment and systems to include computer terminals, optical readers, and scanners.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
