Duties

Help
  • You will use analytical, statistical, and programming skills along with AI tools to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets, then use this information to develop data-driven solutions to our difficult distribution channel challenges.
  • You will conduct extensive studies and comprehensive analysis of functions, methods, procedures and practices pertaining to new and/or improved business processes.
  • You will design, develop, and scale technologies, and capabilities related to data science, data analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and AI-enabled systems in support of business functions.
  • You will apply scientific and statistical standards to data evaluation and analysis in the development of AI models.
  • You will make recommendations in the design of the framework for how data is stored, consumed, integrated, and managed across the Marine Forces Pacific (MARFORPAC).

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 422, proficiency level advanced, incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS (TQs)
: Your resume should demonstrate accomplishments that would satisfy the technical qualifications.

TQ 1. Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques, coding with several languages; using web services and creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms.

TQ 2. Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers and distributed data/computing tools, and visualizing/presenting data to high level leaders.

Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

A. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

Additional information

This position is a Senior Level position in the federal government. Senior Level employees are in non-executive positions whose duties are broad and complex enough to be classified above GS 15 level. Senior level positions involve highly specialized and complex work.

SL positions may include some supervisory and related managerial duties, provided that these duties occupy less than 25 percent of the incumbent's time. SL members are independent advisors or technical experts and do not involve fundamental research and development responsibilities. SL positions are in the competitive or excepted service.

This position is not covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
