The United States Space Force (USSF) at Cape Canaveral SFS, FL is searching for an Operations IT Specialist, SLD 45/1 ROPS (NH-2210-03, GS-12/13 equivalent).

Description:
Are you ready to be at the forefront of ensuring seamless space launch operations by managing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge IT solutions? We're seeking a talented and versatile Information Technology (IT) Specialist to support SLD 45 personnel, NASA, and our commercial customers. In this critical role, you'll design, develop, test, and fine-tune IT programs that directly contribute to the success of current and future launch operations and tests. This is more than just a job; it's a pivotal mission. As an IT Specialist, you'll be at the heart of data management, systems analysis, and applications software development, leveraging your expertise in programming languages to create innovative solutions. If you're driven by innovation, possess a strong understanding of systems analysis and data management, and are excited to work on complex IT challenges that directly support the future of space exploration, we want to hear from you.


Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be able to design, develop, test, evaluate, install, and fine-tune IT programs, and effectively communicate with management and other IT specialists. This position requires a strong understanding of systems analysis concepts, data management principles, and applications software development, including proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, Go, Rust, Swift, Ada, C, C++, COBOL, FORTRAN, PASCAL, and Visual Basic. As the position includes information assurance (IA) work, the incumbent must obtain the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment, per DoD 8570.01-M. The position may require occasional travel, overtime, and ongoing continuing education. A Secret clearance is required.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a broad range of systems analysis concepts, techniques, and principles sufficient to evaluate business practices and processes, evaluate the feasibility of systems development projects, and develop functional requirements and specifications.
2. Knowledge of complex data management concepts, principles, and methods sufficient to evaluate effectiveness of systems, develop and design programs, and to conduct performance-testing activities to optimize processes.
3. Knowledge of applications software development and design concepts and techniques sufficient to design, develop, code, test, and debug large and complex programs.
4. Knowledge of software programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, Go, Rust, Swift, Ada, C, C++, COBOL, FORTRAN, PASCAL, Visual Basic.
5. Ability to design, develop, test, evaluate, install, and fine-tune IT programs.
6. Ability to communicate orally and in writing sufficient to fully coordinate activities with management officials and other IT specialists, and to provide user training and support.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Salary will include COLA (cost of living adjustment) based on locality.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignment.
  • PCS and incentives funding is available.
