Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities in support of the day-to-day operations of the Scott AFB, James Sports Center. Serves as front desk attended ensuring only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment. Greets visitors, answers telephone, makes
reservations for classes or use of equipment and facilities and provides information on scheduled events and classes. Provides
assistance and basic instruction to patrons in proper use of exercise machines and equipment. Test equipment for safe operation. Sets up gymnasiums and playing fields for events, tournaments, and practice games. May officiate intramural sports games. Issues sports equipment and completes required documentation for transaction. Inspects returned equipment noting damage. Reports damaged
equipment to supervisor. Inspects and cleans all equipment and facilities according to established standards and local and fire safety procedures. Operates point of sale system; receives payment and issues charge for services. Prepares cashier reports. Performs
opening and closing procedures of facilities in accordance with guidelines. Assist in setting up and cleaning facilities, grounds and equipment for programs and special functions. Performs other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Must have experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, or other processing of cash items when this includes direct handling of cash items, and use of cash accountability control methods. Experience and knowledge of recreational activities and equipment in sports and fitness is desirable. Must possess current American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or American Heart Association Basic Life support (BLS) certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire (training certification will be provided). Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be able to communicate effectively with patrons. Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. Must be able to work shifts, to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Must satisfactorily complete a background check.
