Current U.S. Customs and Border Protection employees who are currently working in a permanent competitive service position; within the local commuting area; Career Transition Assistance Plan CBP employees.
In this position, you will serve as an Intelligence Research Specialist, applying a full range of expert intelligence knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide insights that warn of potential threats and assessments on possible outcomes in regard to national security.
This position starts at a salary of $112,234.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $145,906.00 (GS-13, Step 10).
Major duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
Identifying, reviewing, and evaluating large volumes of sensitive and complex information in support of strategic, operational or tactical operations.
Communicating effectively both orally and in writing to highest levels of the Intelligence Enterprise (IE).
Engaging in complex research and analyses to develop and publish finished tactical, operational and strategic level intelligence products, and selecting the proper methods of dissemination or coordinating dissemination of intelligence products.
Contributing to short and long term planning through in-depth research and analysis regarding threats to border security.
Establishing working relationships with personnel in related fields throughout the CBP IE and within partner agencies.

Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Applying a full range of analytical knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide finished intelligence and intelligence products in support of operations.
Providing authoritative analytic direction and project-monitoring services specified in interrelated geographical and functional areas.
Gathering, evaluating, analyzing and abstracting data from multiple or specific sources; produces finished analyses, reports and briefings; and formulates appropriate actions regarding problem areas, technical or administrative procedures, and policy recommendations.
Ensuring all intelligence analysis processes and products align with all CBP-relevant legal authorities, policies and guidelines; and complies with accepted standards, including those established by the CBP IE Key Intelligence Official (KIO).

Training: This position has a training requirement. The completion of Intelligence Enterprise career role training pursuant to mandatory and paid training policies for courses that include but not limited to: Intelligence Foundations Course, Systems Exploitation Training, and the CBP Intelligence Support to Operations Course. If selected, you are required to successfully complete the training requirement as a condition of employment. Failure to successfully complete the required course(s) of training in accordance with CBP standards and policies will result in placement into either a former or different position, demotion, or separation as determined by management and appropriate procedures.
