Duties

The incumbent will operate and maintain vehicles with an approximate vehicle weight of 26,000 pounds or less. The vehicles are driven on the basis of specific assignments or regularly established routes. The incumbent will be responsible for upholding local and country traffic regulations and US Navy rule and regulations while operating government vehicles in all traffic conditions. Duties include, but are not limited to: transporting supplies, mail and materials in support of various MWR operation; loading vehicles and properly securing loads to prevent movement or damage in transit; check materials loaded or delivered against various documents to prevent errors, unloading materials at destination; forklift operation. Incumbent is responsible of all MWR vehicles to include their service, issuing gas keys thru Base Supply, collecting all fuel bills, and preparing monthly fuel reports. Operator maintenance to include checking for gas levels, monitoring fluid levels, checking tire pressure, battery, lights, brakes, and maintaining cleanliness of all assigned vehicles.
Incumbent may be responsible for the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related fixtures and utilities. Incumbent may be assigned in the performance of one or more trade practices associated with occupations in maintenance and/or custodial duties. Incumbent is designated as the lead building facility representative (LBFR) for MWR in accordance to NAVSUPPACTSOUDABA YINST 11000.12. Required to familiarize self of all rules and regulations and ensure MWR is in compliance as instructed by the NA VSUPPACTSOUDABA YINST 11000.12. Incumbent works closely with Building Facility Representatives (BFR) for MWR facilities passing down required information as appropriate. In accordance with OPNAVINST 5530.14B, incumbent is designated as the primary key and lock Custodian for the MWR building, Momag storage area and MWR athletic facilities. Must be familiar with all rules and regulations and ensure MWR is in compliance as instructed by OPNAVINST 5530.14B. Serves as alternate for safety and hazmat related issues in the absence of Safety and hazmat representative of MWR for NSA, Souda Bay.

Must have working knowledge to operate a computer, with the ability to complete accident reports, trip logs, patron accountability, and supplies check lists. Makes purchases and maintains all records therein to include blanket purchase agreement calls and logs. May have change fund and be required to accept funds for services rendered and/or filling in as the Central Cashier for MWR when needed.

  • Must possess a valid state-side driver’s license.
  • Incumbents must satisfactorily complete all background checks, including a fingerprint check and National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI)
  • Must pass pre-employment medical examination.
  • Work schedule is subject to change and may include working early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and rotating shifts.

Qualifications

  • Ability to physically lift and carry packages weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to read and understand road maps and determine the shortest and safest route.
  • Knowledge of defensive driving techniques. - Ability to maintain reports and records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal or written instructions.
  • Knowledge and skill to conduct preventive maintenance of vehicles.
  • Knowledge and skill in use and operation of common hand and power tools and measuring devices to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Money handling skills.

Education
