The United States Space Force (USSF) at Cape Canaveral SFS, FL is searching for an Electronics Engineer, SLD 45/1 ROPS (NH-0855-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).

Description:

Ideal Candidate:
This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science from an ABET-accredited institution, with an advanced degree in a technical or business management area preferred. The ideal candidate will possess extensive scientific and technical knowledge of Range instrumentation, ideally with 18 months of experience working with Eastern Range systems, and experience in test and evaluation. They must demonstrate excellent analytical and leadership skills, along with the ability to communicate complex technical issues effectively to diverse audiences. A strong understanding of SLD 45's mission and goals, knowledge of advanced technologies, and the ability to develop new Range concepts are essential. Familiarity with automated data processing and standard contracting regulations is also required. The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, be flexible with work hours, and meet DAWIA requirements. Financial disclosure reporting and ethics training are mandatory.


Key Responsibilities:
1. A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, physics, or computer sciences is required. An advanced degree in a technical or business management area is desirable.
2. Extensive scientific and technical knowledge of Range instrumentation, and at least 18 months experience working with Eastern Range systems is highly desireable.
3. Experience in test and evaluation.
4. Ability to work effectively in stressful situations.
5. Excellent analytical and leadership skills.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including the ability to explain complex technical issues and policy to a non-technical audience comprised of senior Wing management, representatives from other Wing and governmental agencies, and contractor personnel.
7. Extensive knowledge of the role, mission, and goals of SLD 45.
8. Knowledge of advanced technology available for acquisition and SLD 45 use.
9. Ability to develop new Range concepts, programs, and procedures; and direct investigative studies of these technologies
10. Knowledge of automated data processing concepts, systems capabilities, and usage to effectively accomplish assigned functions.
11. Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for the position.

  • May be subject to recall during other than normal duty hours and may be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft within CONUS or to downrange sites in the performance of Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY).
  • PCS/Relocation funding is available.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework".
  • The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
  • This position is designated a NON-CRITICAL APDP position.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
  • A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution in Electronics Engineering or a closely related field is required.
