THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC (Title 32), Position Description Number D1356000 and is part of the IL 182 AW, National Guard.
This is an open continuous announcement. Recruitment will continue through the announcement closing date until the position is filled.
Limited to current, onboard permanent and indefinite IL ARNG/ANG technicians/employees only.

As an AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC (Title 32), WG-8268-11, you will serve as shop chief over a small organizational segment in a maintenance function with responsibility for the overall shop operation.
Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
Plan and lay out work to be accomplished in the shop by lower graded mechanics or technicians.
Determine approaches, methods, and actions required to meet shop maintenance objectives.
Estimate time, equipment, and materials required to complete assigned maintenance work.
Devise and maintain shop production plans, schedules, and records.
Provide input to supervisor regarding personnel actions such as appraisals, awards, and leave.
Perform the full range of aircraft pneudraulic maintenance and repair work.
Perform servicing, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Disassemble, inspect, clean, and reassemble components of pneudraulic systems.
Diagnose malfunctions and determine proper methods for repair and reassembly.
Implement safety regulatory requirements applicable to shop work and operations.
Ensure personnel follow established safety precautions and wear appropriate protective equipment.
Apply knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles to perform technical maintenance tasks.
Perform maintenance using precise procedures in compliance with technical specifications.
Interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications to perform maintenance procedures.
Use test procedures and equipment documentation to support troubleshooting and calibration.
Follow instructions and reference materials to comply with inspection, readiness, or mobilization requirements.

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement. Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code ยง 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:
The area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
Military Grades: ENLISTED ONLY - Minimum rank requirement of TSgt & May not exceed the rank of MSgt.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-11- MUST possess specialized experience which includes experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil, and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in repairing, rebuilding, and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
