Help

The purpose of this position is to operate motor vehicles with gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds.

  • Operates a variety of motor vehicles including pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, carryalls, sedans, crew cab pickup trucks, jeeps and station wagons that weigh up to 10,000 pounds, for transport of personnel, supplies, materials, or equipment and tools throughout the installation.
  • Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing vehicles.
  • Loads or assists in loading, unloading, and arranging cargo.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
  • Must have skill in maneuvering and driving vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds.
  • Must be able to load and arrange cargo.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be physically able to frequently handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to exert light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls.
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • This is a drug testing designated position.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of suitability and fitness for the position.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
