Duties

Help
  • Leads a staff of 3 or more NA-04 cooks and NA-02 food service workers in the preparation of a variety of menu items. Receives instructions from manager or supervisor on duty and passes assignments down to individual members of the group being led.
  • Assures that there is enough work to keep all employees on duty busy. Checks work in progress and assure that all procedures are followed and that deadlines are met.
  • Reports work progress to supervisor and obtain information in order to handle problems that arise during work. Demonstrates proper work methods to other employees and answers procedural questions that they may have.
  • Works along with other workers, setting the pace performing non-supervisory work at the NA-04 level. Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing, such as pancakes, sausage, etc.
  • Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, or breading. Weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular and modified menu items.

  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Shifts may include working, morning, nights, weekends, holidays and special events.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • This position requires a pre-employment physical.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Possess the ability to lead employees engaged in cooking duties. Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision. Demonstrated work experience directly related to the duties to be performed.

FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
