Duties

I. INTRODUCTION: The function of the organization where this position is located is in the official functional statements. The purpose of the position is to perform work which involves simple manual tasks that require light to moderate physical effort, and the use of simple hand tools used in the maintenance of the golf course and facilities.

II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1
. Performs simple golf cart maintenance, (i.e., replenishes fuel/charge levels, washes) readies golf carts for customer use, marks the course for cart control, moves cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes and signs and may mark hazard and drop areas.

2. Maintains ball washers, replaces tee towels, and flags when needed, removes debris, empty garbage containers, and cleans flowerbeds. Maintains golf course driving range, using powered equipment to retrieve range balls, washes range balls, and returns balls to range and clubhouse for rental.

3. Assists in the maintenance of course grounds, and facilities using simple powered equipment such as clippers, weed trimmers, low-pressure sprayers, powered pavement vacuums, and wet vacuums or steam cleaners.

4. Digs ditches, holes where grading and sloping is not required, fill holes with dirty and level bumps using shovels, hand tampers, and rakes. Digs holes for plants, irrigation system, and tree boxes. Performs other related work as assigned.

III. CONTROLS OVER WORK: Supervisor provides general instructions for new task, after which incumbent may independently competes duties involving several distinct tasks or steps. Supervisor ma check work in progress or review results of finished projects.

IV. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:

1. Skill and Knowledge: A certain degree of manual skill is required in the safe use of hand tools and in operating simple power equipment. Continual care must be exercised by the incumbent due to the nature of the tools and equipment used, and weight of the objects handled.

2. Physical Effort: Moderately heavy physical effort is required in occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and in pushing heavy furniture, loading carts, etc. Frequently lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

3. Working Conditions: Work is performed outside in all kinds of weather and inside in areas that may be dusty, drafty, and noisy. Mishandling of the equipment, tools, and tasks involved may result in injuries that are more serious.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
No previous experience or training is required. Must be able to use, control, and clean common hand tools, and simple power equipment. Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry medium to heavy objects up to 40 pounds and be able to occasionally life and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach and work in awkward positions. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must have a valid driver's license.

This position is a drug testing position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position DOES NOT allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
