Duties

Help
  • This position will serve as the assistant to the Credentials Manager, performing a variety of administrative and technical duties.
  • Administer credentials and clinical privileging for physicians and non-physician health-care practitioners who require individual clinical privileges.
  • Granting/renewal of clinical privileges, appointment/reappointment to the medical staff, augmentation/modification of clinical privileges, management of adverse privileging actions, and maintenance of all practitioner credentials files (PCFs).
  • Initiate PCFs in CCQAS for health care practitioners providing patient care at Evans Army Community Hospital and surrounding VA and DHA facilities, ensuring that information is complete and accurate.
  • Conduct primary source verification of credentials contained in PCFs verbally or in writing and/or review of reference literature.
  • Following notification of adverse events/information, analyze the event/information, taking into full consideration factors such as the impact to patients, nexus to care, liability for the hospital, and available evidence.
  • Advise staff and make recommendations on limiting, suspending, or revoking clinical privileges.
  • Serve as co-action officer and recorder for Credentials Committee meetings.
  • Receive and prepare responses to letters of inquiry received from other hospitals, licensing agencies, etc. Utilize a personal computer and word processing and database software in order to provide office automation support.
  • Preparing PCFs for presentation, preparing agenda and voting records, preparing minutes, and obtaining appropriate signatures on privileging documents following the meeting.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes documented experience which demonstrates 1) collecting data from databases to create reports for the organization. 2) establishing and maintaining office files. 3) preparing variety of reports, documents and correspondence using office automated systems/databases 4) drafting and composing correspondence for management review and signature. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Proficiency Requirement: Position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
