Duties

Help
  • Coordinates the overall Medical Enterprise cable administration supporting IT systems including unclassified and classified voice, data, and video teleconferencing.
  • Provides technical oversight of the Information Technology platforms selected and utilized in the design and construction of cable systems and Integrated infrastructure.
  • Provides staff direction and operational coordination for configuration management plans for complex local-area networks and wireless local area networks.
  • Plans for the installation of original or new releases of existing software for network management purposes.
  • Identifies IT systems and telecommunications network requirements to meet command objectives.
  • Reviews and refines plans and requests submitted by subordinate and outside activities for IT and telecommunications system support.
  • Represents the command at meetings, conferences and staff visits to higher or adjacent commands, and subordinate units.
  • Contributes and provides technical planning guidance to the command on transmission policies, procedures, and practices; and the impact new technologies or procedures could have on existing base operations in the Medical Enterprise Network.
  • Establishes priorities and makes work assignments to employees with authority to change priorities based on workload requirements.

  • The employee may be required to work overtime and to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • This position is designated key/mission essential position and the employee may be required to remain on duty or report for duty during severe weather or other installation closings.
  • Call back and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
  • May be required to carry a Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) cellular device and maintain a personal working cell/home telephone at all times.
  • This is an Information Assurance Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for certification at Level II in Information Assurance Technology (IAT-II) within 6 months or less of entrance on duty.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Basic Requirements for the IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK/INFOSEC), GS-2210-13 Position:

Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting network performance assessments, providing technical advisement regarding communication systems, and preparing documents for the acquisition of information technology equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
